Weather

November in New Zealand is generally mild, with temperatures typically above 5°C (41°F).  The East Coast and northern areas, including Christchurch and Nelson, often enjoy warmer temperatures, sometimes exceeding 20°C (68°F). However, temperatures below 5°C (41°F) can still occur occasionally. Generally speaking, November as a whole is a great time to visit with the weather often being very pleasant.

Our advice is to book your destination, expecting the worst and hoping for the best. This way, anything is better than your expectations when going on holiday.

Things To Do

There are a myriad of things that you can do in New Zealand and what you do very much depends on where you are planning on staying. With that being said, we have put together a list of four major things that people like to do when visiting.

Cable Bay Adventure Park – The Skywire

Skywire, found at Cable Bay Adventure Park, is an exhilarating high-speed suspension wire ride. Combining elements of a flying fox and a chairlift, riders travel in a four-person carriage at speeds reaching 100kph.

The 3.2 km journey takes passengers both forward and backward across a 1.6 km expanse of native forest valley, offering stunning views of the natural surroundings.

Hobbiton™ Movie Set Tours

If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings, you’re probably aware that much of the film was shot in New Zealand. One of the most iconic locations, the Shire – home to the hobbits – was brought to life in New Zealand and has since become a must-visit destination for fans and tourists alike. Throughout the year you can book tickets and visit to experience the movie set.

Visit the Sky Tower

Based in Auckland, the Sky Tower stands tall at 328 meters and it is an attraction where visitors can get a lift to the top and see stunning 360° views across Tāmaki Makaurau.

As well as the breathtaking panoramas, visitors can enjoy world-class dining, interactive exhibits, and thrilling activities, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. On a quick look on Trip Advisor and you’ll see it ranks number one as things to do in New Zealand.

What To Pack

As we mentioned below, the weather varies depending on where you are visiting. With weather sometimes being unpredictable (let’s face it, the forecast never feels like it is right), it is wise to pack for every outcome (to an extent, you don’t want to overpack)

Here are a quick list of items to consider bringing with you:

  • T-Shirts, short-sleeve shirts
  • Light Cardigans or fleece jackets
  • A waterproof jacket
  • Comfortable jeans & lightweight trousers
  • Shorts or skirts for when it’s hot
  • Pyjamas for the evening
  • Any active wear if you plan on doing any sports
  • Swimwear for the beaches or swimming pools
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Accessories such as glasses, lightweight scarves etc.

Remember, when you are packing, you will have a weight limit to abide by, so have this in the back of your mind when getting your items ready. We always put together a packing list on our phone, so that we can tick items off as they go in the suitcase.
